Back to Bali and the Monkey Forest

A couple of images from the Monkey Forest in Bali in Ubud.  A really nice place to go, unless your afraid of monkeys!  Hundreds of the little buggers!  The one with Paul was absolutely fascinated with the coconut as it was rattling and he wanted what was inside.  The image with the little monkey and the red blob is interesting... the red blob, ice cream.  Just goes to show that little people and little monkeys like ice cream... though he didn't like how cold it was... it was hilarious as he would take a lick and then squeal, then back for more....

The one with me, I think I posted before, but it is an amazing shot and just goes to show how used to people the monkey are... just a note to people who are planning to go... don't have ANYTHING on your head or in pockets... the little buggers are quick and know that they get food from you to get back your belongings... which of course are sold by helpful and industrious people in the forest

San Francisco in December 2008

Well every couple of years the American Society of Haematology (ASH) is in SF and we both usually go and take a month off and catch up with our good mates Vince and Ron.  This year was one of those years, however with the current financial gloom and the not so good Australian dollar we decided that only Paul would go and do ASH, and we would go to India in February... well that was until the recent terrorist attacks in India!  Anyway I digress... SF.

ASH is a big international conference about 25,000 delegates... yup, its big!  Anyway Paul got a chance to catch up a couple of times with Vince and they went down to the new California Academy of Sciences, that houses a huge aquarium, planetarium and a four-story rainforest all under one living roof with funky windows in the ceiling.  Some images from the Academy visit.

This time Cologne in September 2008

OK, as you can guess I have been a bit slack on the updates... oh well, its been busy!

Anyhoo, this trip, to Cologne, same deal again, short trip, short stay and back again.

He did manage to get out and about and came across an amazing Cathedral.... from Wikipedia...

Cologne Cathedral (GermanKölner Dom, officially Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria) is the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne, under the administration of the Roman Catholic Church and is renowned as a monument of Christianity, of Gothic architecture and of the faith and perseverance of the people of the city in which it stands. It is dedicated to Saint Peter and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The cathedral is a World Heritage Site, being one of the best-known architectural monuments inGermany, and Cologne's most famous landmark, described by UNESCO as an "exceptional work of human creative genius".[1] Cologne Cathedral is one of the world's largest churches, being the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe. For four years, 1880-84, it was the tallest structure in the world, until the completion of the Washington Monument. It has the second-tallest church spires, only surpassed by the single spire of Ulm Cathedral, completed ten years later in 1890. Because of its enormous twin spires, it also presents the largest façade of any church in the world.

Denmark in June 2008...

A bit of a late post... but Paul escaped to Denmark in June, just the start of summer for a 3 day conference.  Took him three days to get there and back for three day meeting.... thats hard work.  Images are from the train and the entrance to the Tivoli Gardens.

Another of Chris....

I gotta say... Chris you were a pleasure to work with and as a professional portrait photographer you really added to the shoot! Thanks mate... I learnt heaps and had fun!
