Now a quick trip back to Oz, this image is from a sequence featuring spring wild flowers. So I've given it away, that it is a floral related image. Oh well. I like this image for the strong form and texture. The colours work well together, and the odd fragment or two add to break up the repeating patterns. What do you think?
Something from Bali: White Drop I
OK this is a special post as it will be in two parts.... but I'm not going to tell you when the second post is, just yet.
Some of you may have known that recently Paul and I took a quick break away, and had 10 days in Bali, staying at two locations. The first was The Maya, Ubud, http://mayaubud.com/ (will open in a new window). This is our buddies, Gary and Stuart's favourite place in Bali, and we both agree is a lovely tranquil place to chill. I'll put some holiday snaps up soon.
The other place was the Nyaman Villas, down in Seminyak http://www.nyamanvillasbali.com/ (opens in new window). Another great place to stay but down in the busy Seminyak and all the great restuarants.
So back to this image. This image was taken a few moments after arrival at the Maya. The gardens are beautiful and vast. But this set of flowers caught my eye. Nestled in amongst the dark green foliage was this drop of purity. White Drop. Enjoy.

Now I know this image is not going to be to everyone's liking. The strong bold colour, and strong contrast really resonates with me, but I can see that not everyone would like it. It is actually an photograph of a Waratah, an Australian native flowering shrub, with a bit of manipulation. Yes these aren't the actual colours of the flower.
As my bio says... " I seek to create extraordinary contemporary images swelling with the beauty of colour and natural forms, yet from a perspective that is often surprising and graphically startling."
Enjoy

Purple haze
OK this one is also from a photowalk in August. Yes I'm a bit behind in processing. This image was taken in a park garden... yes, me lurking around in the bushes with a camera! I love these Iris's. They are known commonly as Japanese Iris's, but if someone actually knows what they are called just drop me a line so I can correct it. The shot was taken about 11:50 AM, when I look at the metadata, which shows that you can get a nice shot in the middle of the day. Enjoy.

Something from a photowalk in August...
Sometimes it is good to put a bit of space between shooting and developing the final images. This one has had a bit of maturing over time, like a fine wine. This particular shot caught my eye initially as a colour image. However given a bit of time I have changed my mind, and am presenting it to you as a black and white. Enjoy.
My Mars landscape shot
A lovely end to a busy week....
Paul and I have been very busy whilst we have been away. Shooting everyday (ok, one day I only took a shot by the pool with the iphone), filled up the laptop and data drives with images... eek only 8GB left!) trekking, riding, navigating the crazy roads, scouting locations, falling off things (see previous blog post and massive bruise), eaten our way around the island and some R&R. Last night we were fortunate to attend Metis's 3rd Year Anniversary in Seminyak. A lovely evening, and there was four yummy courses and three shows, followed by fireworks and a party that was clearly going on to the wee hours of the morning.
A couple there were celebrating there 50 year anniversary, and I thought well Paul and I have been together for 28 years, so we aren't doing too bad either... I'm still in love with my guy :D
Back home today...

Slight issues whilst location scouting
A lay day... For laying
Up in Gianyar, been a very busy and adventurous four days. Though luckily we had programmed a lay day for yesterday. Just as well as there was a minor incident involving me coming off a path on the side of a mountain. Bruises look good! But I'm fine, and more importantly my reflex was to protect the camera... And that survived unscathed.

Off to an international shoot
Billy Goat Browne!
Ahhhh, for those of you how haven't met my best buddy Nicholas, here he is... he has a tendancy to head for the highest point around and climb it, just like a mountain billy goat. A couple of times I thought about joining him on the 'climbs' however I thought that a person with a balance disorder that had flared up probably wasn't a good idea!
Dunes at sunset....
White and brown paper...
Trails in the sand....
This is another Broome abstract, except, its not an abstract. This one was taken whilst I was visiting Nicholas and Juddy up in Broome. The landscape and environs are full of diversity and amazing things to see and photograph. The area also changes between the wet and the dry seasons. This one was taken during the dry whilst walking on the beach at Roebuck Bay. I was immediately taken by the amazing colour, texture, patterns in the sand along the waters edge. Enjoy.
