City Series I: Urban Tiger

Hunting, journey of a thousand kilometres.
Days of traveling, high altitudes, the air is thin.

Hunting, deep, dark, in a foreign land.
The natives speaking a foreign tongue, a dialect hard to understand.

Hunting, dense, tall canopies obscuring the light.
Fleeting glimpses of beauty, elusive, transient, evading.

Hunting, the tiger jumps, shadows hide, sunlight reveals.
The tiger appears, obscured stripes, a moment, now gone.

Hunting.

Enjoy.

City Series I | Golden Views

Golden Views of Manhattan. One of my favourite images from the series. I love the complex, colour, and forms of this capture. I also like that we can see into a few windows and see the rooms window sill furniture, providing a splash of colour and forms different to the surface and reflections of the buildings.

Enjoy.

Eureka on Facebook....

An awesome and humbling post from Lane Rasmussen.... thank you buddy, glad I could help out.
"Eureka in the Bathtub! Well, almost. This variation: Eureka on Facebook!

Last night I was chatting with Kingsley Burton, a wicked photographer in Australia. This guy is totally amazing and he has been very kind in helping me out with various things photographic. While we were chatting last night he pointed out an error I was making with my flashes. I won’t bore anyone with the details, but it was a moment of both embarrassment and joy. I was embarrassed at realizing that I was not doing what I thought I was doing, and I was overjoyed to see the window finally open and comprehension come pouring in. Great Zeus, I love moments like that! Thank you Kingsley Burton Photography!"

City Series I: Squashed Meerkats

Whilst discussing this image with my bestie Nicholas he suggested the title, due to our mutual love of meerkats.  So from Manhattan, where there are lots of holes in the ground, cars and trucks, I present - Squashed Meerkats.

Enjoy.

City Series | Inception I

New image from the City Series titled "Inception I".

The bold tortured lines of the buildings reflections are twisted and deformed like in the movie Inception. But underlying this chaos and complexity, offices can been seen, were people are trying to impose order and organisation.  The metaphor for our minds? Perhaps.

Enjoy.

City Psychadelic I

For some of you who have been following my Facebook page I showed the working up of a new image earlier in the week.  Well its done now and here it is - "City Psychadelic".  Strong colours and form in Manhattan.  This would look particularly stunning in a large print on alumalux.

For the eagle-eyed, you notice a church steeple in the shot as well.  I decided to leave it there to give the photograph some dimension and anchoring to its location.

Remember to 'click' on the image to see it larger.

Enjoy.

Manhattan 228

A bit of a break from the reflections series, even though I know I posted a teaser up on FB.  Anyway for the first day of 2014 I thought I would post something about new and old things, and about infinite possibilities that are before us.

Today, "Manhattan 228", a image of a derelict door, a door that could lead to anything and everything.  So for today, the first day of the year, symbolic of new possibilities, open the doors of old and create wonderous new things in your life.

Enjoy.

City Series | Ecru vista

This image was taken around 25th Street in Manhattan, from the roof of our apartment.  The light was going down very quickly and this vista just popped into and out of existence very quickly.  The thing about some of these reflections is that they are only seem for a short period of time from one year to the next.  I suspect this was one of those images.

As always you can click on the image for a larger version, and remember these images are copyrighted and have embedded Digimarc protection.

Enjoy.

2013 City Series: Sunset Now

This time, from Washington, on a very warm autumn day in the downtown area.  Actually, having said that, I'm pretty sure it was near the Capitol Building.  My GPS unit kept popping out, so I can't be certain.

So warm colours of sunset, with complex forms and planes.  Enjoy.

Singing Blue Silver

The title of this one is from some lyrics of one of my favourite songs, The Chauffeur, by Duran, Duran.

"...And the droning engine throbs in time with your beating heart
And the sun drips down bedding heavy behind the front of your dress all shadowy lined
And the droning engine throbs in time with your beating heart
Sing blue silver ..."

Yes, I'm an eighties child, and this image reminds me of this song.  The silvery blue and throbbing orange.  Yes I see/hear pictures :D

Enjoy.

all it took was one second....Diamonds in the sky

This image has been very popular on my Facebook page(https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kingsley-Burton-Photography/68520705194), so I thought I would share it on the blog.  Shot in Washington whilst being ushered out by security people, I had only moments to capture this.

I love the forms, texture and light. Enjoy Diamonds in the Sky.
