It's been a quiet weekend

Sorry for the lack of updates... Had a slight run in with a hand surgeon ;-). Yup it's my right hand and I haven't been able to work the camera or computer very well. Oh well. Should be off in a day or two. Paul has been a great help and Nicholas great moral support from up North.

Broome aerial shot II

OK another black and white (I know!  Not my usual style at all!) from the recent Broome visit.

I love the patterns, I love the texture, and I love the contrast.  The image itself was shot through a plane window with a polariser on.

little bit of winter goodness...

One of the things we dont get a  lot of in the West is cherries.  Both Paul and I remember living in London where we could get a bag of yummy black cherries for £2 for 2lb, hmmm.... yummm... it was always almost like that scene in with the cherries in the Witches of Eastwick! Anyways I digress.  For some reason we have a sudden supply of 'reasonably' priced cherries here.  So my favourite recipe for cherries is Cherry Clafouti.  It is a really simple recipe and quick to make... well other than de-pipping the cherries.

It goes from this,

To this...
and finally to this...

Enjoy with friends...

What is it...???

I recently had the fortune to do some work up north, and on the way back I dropped into Broome to see my best buddy Nicholas and Justin.  On the way to Broome I was intrigued by all the forms, texture and complexity of the landscape beneath me.  So as usual I spent most of the trip pressed up against the window trying to capture decent images.  This one though I like.  It looks to me like a repeating form of nature.  Is it a slide of a kidney, and blood vessel network in the brain, or what?  Enjoy.

Luscious and luxuriant are Peonies

This shot was actually shot a number years ago... but I came across this one recently.  The deep red tones and the texture make this shot both luscious and luxuriant... a little bit of opulence for you to enjoy.

The Blues...

Recently, I attend a photography lecture at the Western Australian State Library... as I usually do, I parked in the State Library carpark.  Interestingly there was an installation all throughout the car park which was quiet stunning... what was it you ask?  Well I'm not really sure, well... it was blue...

Jeff Wall Exhibition in Perth, May 2012

Well, firstly a big thank you to my buddy Gary Giles, who organised and invited me to meet and see Jeff Wall's exhibition in Perth.  For those of you who don't know, Jeff is one of my photographic heroes, and one of the all time iconic photographers.  If you have an opportunity over the next 15 months, the exhibition is touring Australia.  Last night a few of us got to spend some time with him getting a private tour of the exhibition, before the formal opening.  He's a very humble guy, bright, and clearly very talented.  If you get a chance in Perth, this Sunday he is giving a free lecture at 2pm.  Well worth it for all my photog Perth buddies.

And a big thank you for Gary for organising this very special event, and asking Jeff to sign one of the exhibition books for me!  Thank you Gary. x
