Seljalandsfoss waterfall I

A quick stop at the Seljalandsfoss waterfall in the South of Iceland. The waterfall is 60m high, and there is a path that goes around the back of the waterfall. Very beautiful. I got another shot of this waterfall which I will share as well. ⠀

Primordial grounds. Black and yellow's of the ground near a geothermal vent. The black earth provides a strong backdrop to the vibrant yellow and golds of the sulphur. An incredibly beautiful and startling scene.⠀

Walking through Kings Park Botanical Gardens during spring is always a treat.  The native wildflowers are amazing and diverse.  This one is just a pink eucalyptus just starting to bloom.

"tankur af síld olíu"

Up in the isolated north coast of Iceland, in an abandoned herring factory we came across these tanks that used to hold herring oil.  A view to the past.  It was in this ruin we celebrated my 50th birthday.  A very memorable day.  It is located at the head of Reykjarfjörður on the Strandir coast in the Westfjords region (Vestfirðir), in the municipality of Árneshreppur.

It is approximately 70 km away from Hólmavík (the nearest settlement of any account), 280 km from Ísafjörður and 340 km from the country's capital Reykjavík. At present it only consists of seven houses, a hotel and the ruins of a herring factory. It can be reached by car via road 643 or by plane via the nearby Gjögur Airport. - Wikipedia

I screwed up

Or rather I screwed it up.

This image was taken in August 2015 on my 50th Birthday World Tour. This one was shot in Melbourne in the city centre and I was mesmerised but it.  It is a sculpture made out of metal but it looks like its a scrunched up piece of paper.  To help you with the perspective of this stunning piece I would like to invite you to zoom in.  How far, well as far as you need to go to see two red hands.... all will be revealed.  Enjoy.

Iridescent Blue

Some of you have asked about this photograph and what I can tell you... this one is a photograph II took in Bali, and have done some advanced colour remapping. So the photograph is a of some of the sparkly beach sand in Bali, that has a high amount of quartz and mica, which looks sparkly. On the west coast of Bali the beach sand is a yellow/orange colour with sparkly volcanic/mica sand (its not like the white powder sand beaches in Perth).

So here I have attempted to take the sparkly/iridescent material and remapped the colours to the green, and the yellow and golden colours to blue, To me this combination forces you to look more at the abstracted forms and totally removes the subject matters cues ie it doesn't look like beach sand, and get me to look and think about the colours and forms and where these could be in nature.

For me, the colour combination is very exotic and the form totally beguiling. It demonstrates for me where we see nature's patterns in different scale proportion i.e. this photograph looks like an underwater deep ocean floor scan, and not the tidal zone sand it is.

Anyways there you go, a little peek behind the curtain to get a sense of what and why. :D

Chaos + Colour = Elegance

Recently I was out and about with Albert, who I have yet introduced my blog readers to yet... but I digress... out and about with Albert walking through the park at the back of our property and I came across this scene.  What I saw was something beautiful, elegant and sophisticated.  I don't think I could have crafted this even if I had spent days constructing it, and yes I have tried, and no you're not going to see the outcome of that!

So to the image, something beautiful, colourful, elegant and the epitome of chaos theory... in chaos there is order.  From the randomness of the trees dropping their leaves and flowers and the wind and rain combining them into this form.  It is beautiful. Enjoy.

About

I was born in London, England, grew up in Malaysia, immigrated to Australia and have visited all the states and Territories in Australia.  I have worked in London and Australia.  From an early age, I have always been fascinated by the visual arts, and after a happy accident in art class in my youth resulted in me spending my time exploring photography and developing my craft in the photographic arts.

Through university and my early career, I left film photography and became immediately drawn to digital media production.  With the development and quality gains of digital photography, I renewed my love and passion for this complex art form.  I now express my passion for the medium using a combination of techniques learnt from both traditional film and digital platforms.  My aim, to create verve in colour and form, and to help you see the beauty around us from the mundane to the exotic.

I am an Accredited Professional Photographer with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography and Australian Commercial and Media Photographers. I am a Master with The Arcanum focusing on photographic mentoring, education and development.  Artistically  I specialise in fine art photography, commercial and so men's portraiture.  I also work as a Health Executive for the Department of Health of Western Australia where I specialise in clinical change and reform.  I have the most amazing partner Paul, and this year we will be celebrating 32 years together, and we get to travel around the world on our photographic adventures.

2015 major photographic safari....

Currently out and about on the 2015 major photography safari for the year. Started off in Melbourne for a few days. Some terrific photography there, more of the cityscape series. Currently in Reykjavik, Iceland about to drive around the island. Yesterday we spent sometime exploring the graffiti of the city, of which there is some
great urban street art.

Old Deep Blue

Some great travels over the last four months and some great photography of course.  Whilst I'm still collating and reviewing images I felt you would like a little bit of colour in your day.  So here is Old Deep Blue.  Enjoy.
